Serving low-income adults, seniors, and families in the St. Louis area, Deaconess Nurse Ministry is a nonprofit organization that provides holistic care for mind, body, and spirit that helps community members thrive. Catering to individuals in need, they offer whole-person mental, physical, and spiritual health-related services, education, and advocacy.
The organization needed a centralized solution to ensure data accuracy, streamline data entry, and improve reporting to secure more funding.
Prior to implementing Bonterra Impact Management, the organization’s goals were to organize and improve data accuracy, streamline the process of data entry, and have a centralized database for administrative staff and nurses in the field. Another goal was to improve reporting accuracies and make it easier to tell their story to funders. “Pre-Bonterra Impact Management, reporting was a nightmare; now all I do is push a button,” reports Rev. Donna Smith-Pupillo, RN, executive director of Deaconess Nurse Ministry.
With Bonterra Impact Management, Deaconess Nurse Ministry has the ability to see and track social determinants of health. Updated holistic data has helped them identify opportunities to grow programs, enhance strategic planning, and receive new and increased funding.
Thanks to their program growth, the organization can serve more seniors with in-house programs, rather than refer them to other agencies. Additionally, Deaconess has used Bonterra Impact Management’s reporting features to better showcase their impact story, helping them become a United Way Agency and secure two new grants – ultimately increasing funding by 31% annually.
